24 carat gold fan designed by Ella Gafter for Donna Stefania Cesari, Italian Cavaliere del Lavoro, holder of the largest private collection of antique fans in Europe. Fan appears on cover of Franco Maria Ricci's book about the collection. The leaf, in white linen needle lace, was made in the second half of the nineteenth century and is decorated with sprays of roses, and a central medallion with floral motifs. The mount, in contemporary goldwork, is decorated with a pierced motif; the guard sticks are decorated with applied diamonds and emeralds.
